We just released Diafaan SMS Server version 2.1 that has a new reboot option for GSM modems "RebootBeforeInitialization". It is a good idea to enable this option for serial- or TCP/IP modems or TCP/IP or USB modem pools. For most single-port USB modem dongles the option should stay disabled because a reboot causes the USB port to shut down and not all USB modems can recover from this.

The new version also has improvements in the handling of "stuck" messages. In most situations, messages are released two minutes after a GSM modem is not working properly anymore and sending starts again as soon as the modem is available again.

Diafaan SMS Server version 2.1 is a free update for all users of the basic- and full edition and to users of the light edition who purchased the license less than a year ago.

I have found that rebooting whenever you get this type of problem can be very useful. So far, I don't think if there is any other way. http://imagicon.info/cat/0/icon_smile.gif

Every time the modem reports a send error, Diafaan SMS Server restarts the GSM modem module and you see a red cross on the GSM Modem Gateway. Normally the GSM modem will work again after a restart, but in your situation the modems is stuck and the reset does not work. The messages that the GSM module is processing will time out eventually but that can take a long time.

There are two things you might try. First, you can set the "RebootAfterSendError" to True in the Advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway. This will cause a full reboot of the GSM module with a reconnect to the GSM network and will most likely solve the "stuck" modem problem.

Another option is to disable delivery confirmation if you do not need it and to slow down the messages speed to increase the reliability of the modem. Delivery confirmation often causes clashes between sent and received messages resulting in send errors. Set the "DeliveryConfirmation" option to False to disable delivery confirmation and "SendDelayTime" to 5 seconds to slow down the send speed.

If this does not solve the problems I would like to see the communication log of one of the modems. You can send the log to our email address dms@diafaan.com. Be sure to include your purchase order number or serial number of the software with the support request, because we cannot give full support in the trial period.

Regards, Henk

At times the messages get stuck in the connector queue and stay.. Today 140 messages remained stuck in the queue for a very long time. The messages started to go again when I initiated another SMS campaign.

I hope I can get some professional help here...

Thanx Alot.

Hello,
I am facing a serious problem.
I have the following GSM Modem
GSM GPRS modem 16 Ports, SMS GSM modem, Q2303/ Q2403/ Q2406/ Q24plus (Wavecom module),
with 8 COM Ports currently active.
Every time I send out an SMS Campaign (2000+ sms), a cross (X) sign continues to appear and disappear on the com ports.
As long as the ports keep on keep on recovering automatically, everything is fine. But sometimes the (X) doesn't disappear and the port becomes inactive. Sometimes it recovers after a couple of hours. But sometimes I have to remove the sim and put it back in again for it to be active again.
Following is the log of one of the ports when it carried an (X).
