Log modem problems
Diafaan SMS Server can make a log of all communication to and from the modems. This log can help with modem problems and we might require the log to help you with a support question. The four steps on this page show how logging can be started, where the log file is located and how the logging can be stopped.
Most gateways and connectors in Diafaan SMS Server have the ability to create a communication log in the same way as the GSM Modem Gateway, the steps below can be used for all gateways and connectors with a LogCommunicationToFile option.
Step 1: Enable communication loggingDouble click on the GSM Modem Gateway to edit the GSM Modem Gateway properties and select Advanced. Set the LogCommunicationToFile property to True . |
Step 2: Send and receive some messagesSend one or more messages with the modem to your mobile phone and send one or more messages from your mobile phone to the modem. Wait until you receive the message on your mobile phone so that the status update is sent back to the modem if the mobile network supports delivery reports. |
Step 3: Open the communication log fileClick on Show folder in the status window of the GSM Modem Gateway to open the communication log folder. The file with the same name as the GSM Modem Gateway contains the full communication log of the modem. You can open this file to troubleshoot the modem or email it to Diafaan to help with your support call. |
Step 4: Disable communication loggingDouble click on the GSM Modem Gateway to edit the GSM Modem Gateway properties and select Advanced. Set the LogCommunicationToFile property to False . |
