The Wavecom Q2303A module is supported by Diafaan SMS Server. This module also supports USSD.

I have tried to send a flash message to our TP-Link MA-180 and Diafaan SMS Server also does not receive flash messages from the modem. Apparently the TP-Link modems don't save flash SMS messages to the SIM card like most other modems do.

If receiving flash messages is important for you then you can set the 'ModemInitializationEnd' property in the advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway to 'AT+CNMI=1,2,0,1'. This instructs the modem to send the received SMS messages (including flash messages) directly to Diafaan SMS Server instead of storing them on the SIM card first.

I don't have a solution for the USSD issue. If you have a modem from another manufacturer available for testing you could try if you have the same issue with USSD commands. If that is the case then the problem is almost certainly with the mobile network.

Hello Henk Helmantel

I am still having the same problem. I have contacted the Administrator for USSD system in my operator and the log file for my transaction was sent successfully. and I have used another SIM card from different operator still the same issue.
I have installed Diafaan server in another machine and the same issue.

I have tried to send a flash message to the same MSISDN which I use in the Modem, and the message was sent successfully and the delivery report was successful and no received message.

and i have used diafaan online PDU decoder for the flash message.

sending a flash message to it self log:

The log shows that the modem does not return a response after sending the USSD command '*121#'. The most likely reason is that this USSD command is not supported by the mobile network.

I have made a quick test with the TP-Link MA180 and it does support USSD commands, we do not have an MA260 available for testing but the problem is probably not this modem but the USSD support of your mobile network as well.

Hello Henk

my GSM modem is TP-Link MA260 and I used to send and receive USSD messages. But then it sends the USSD request with no replay. I used a service called "Please call me" and it sends a message to the B party. so the commands executed in the modem correctly. i have enabled the communication log and this is the part of send USSD message:
2017/03/06 11:47:53.652 > AT+CUSD=1,"*121#",15
2017/03/06 11:47:53.692 < OK
2017/03/06 11:47:58.537 > AT+CMGL=4
2017/03/06 11:47:58.579 < OK
It seems everything is OK. but still not receiving any message. I have bought a new GSM modem TP-Link MA180 to test it and still the same problem

please help me with this issue.

Best Regards;

Not all GSM modems support USSD and perhaps your modem is one of them.

If you enable the communication log option for the GSM Modem Gateway in Diafaan SMS Server, you can see in the log if there is a response to the USSD command. If there is no response then the GSM modem probably does not support USSD or the mobile operator does not recognize the USSD command.
