Thanks for the configuration file. If disabling the reboot makes the modem more reliable it is best to keep the 'RebootBeforeInitialization' option to 'False'. If you later notice that the modem hangs, you can also try to set the 'RebootBeforeInitialization' option back to 'True' and the 'ModemRebootTime' to '60'. That gives the modem more time to finish the reboot procedure, it is possible that the default 30 seconds is not enough for your modem to connect to the network again. There is not much else that you can do about this issue, except perhaps a firmware upgrade for the modem. But there is no guarantee that this will help.

Most modems work more reliable with the reboot option set to 'True' but some modems work more reliable when this option is switched off. It is perfectly OK to keep the reboot option disabled.

Hi Henk,
I 've set the 'RebootBeforeInitialization' property in the advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway to 'False' at 10:13 am
It resulted in the Gateway being stopped and started. And it's all good after only one connection error.
Will monitor and keep you posted.
Have also sent the config file to dms as i've mentioned in the previous post.

Hi Henk,
Thanks for the reply. I'll send our config file to dms. I would like to add that no changes has been made and the modem is still in it's original location. I forgot to add that we always had this problem when rebooting the server ( VM) for windows upgrade and maintenance. We had to power down and up the modem for it to work again. I 'll look into the RebootBeforeInitialization Property as how to how and where to change it.

Hello Kwhy,

If the problem started only recently, the most likely explanation is that something changed in the mobile network. Mobile networks are constantly updated and a software change or a change in the antenna configuration of the network can make the connection to the modem less reliable.

Except for a firmware update of the modem module, there is not much you can do about mobile connection problems, but you can try to set the 'RebootBeforeInitialization' property in the advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway to 'False'. Some modems do not react properly to a modem reboot command and if I look at the communication log, it is possible that your modem has this problem as well.

If that does not work, I would like to see the configuration file of Diafaan SMS Server (menu options 'File-Export-Configuration'). You can send this file to dms@diafaan.com.

Hi henk,
We've been running ver 4.3.0.2 Basic edition for 10 months. And since last months we've been having 'time out errors ' in the events logs. See below. It keeps repeating and the only working solution is to turn off and on the Modem Multitech MTR - H5 B07.
Any ideas ?
