Hello Frank,

A timeout after an attempt to send a message with a GSM modem is not unusual. Ideally, the GSM modem should never generate an error or a timeout after sending a messages but on most of the GSM/3G modems we tested, this happens occasionally.

A timeout after a send attempt means that the modem did not receive confirmation that the message was received by the mobile network within 30 seconds after the send command. Sometimes the modem might return an error after the timeout but usually the modem won't return a response at all. When this happens, Diafaan SMS Server tries to send the messages again up to two times.

When you see a lot of send errors, it might be an indication that the signal strength or quality of the mobile network is insufficient, it also might be an indication of compatibility problems between your modem and the mobile network. Some modems work flawlessly on one mobile network but generate a lot of send errors when used on another mobile network.

Regards, Henk

Hello, we bought your software and also the hardware recommended on your site (PORTECH MV-370). It works fine but we get these error seomtime on the log:

Send Log: 300, Error: Timeout error, no or unexpected response after GSM Modem send command.

Event Log: Timeout error, no or unexpected response after GSM Modem command "07912160130300F431C80B918181822820F00000AA0DC925AD56AB81E6F430BD3E07".

So is there a way to avoid this? Is there a timer I can set longer or do you know if there are setting in the PORTECH MV-370 need to adjust?

When I send messages I insert about 150 rows into the sql table (which goes into your send queue) and that in the GSM Modem Gateway Properties I have:

Maximum Batch Size: 10
ReceivePollAfterMaximumSendBatch: 10
ReceivePollIntervalTime: 5
SendDelayTime: 10

So any parameter you think it need adjustment?

Thank you!
