The maximum SMS send speed of 3G modems is often double the maximum speed of GSM modems and for 4G modems it might be even a little higher but the difference in SMS send speed of 3G modems seems to be greater that of GSM modems.
The send speed in our review of the Huawei E173 modem is just an indication, it is the send speed that we we measured in our test and it is probably different on another mobile network and location.

Hello,
I have a question about speed and USB / miniPCIe modems ...
I see on all your site that the max speed is : Send up to 12 SMS messages per minute
But why do you test the modems speed and you write that for exemple a Huawei E173 3G modem is capable to send 500 messages of 160 characters in 11 minutes 8 seconds (that makes something like 45 SMS each minute ...)
Is it possible to send more then 12 sms/minute with a modem or no ?
I have actually 2 modems, 1 from Huawei E173s and 1 on a miniPCIe slot (don't remember the name right now...)
