Hello Robert,
The error message is an indication that the modem is not able to connect to one of the GSM networks that has a roaming contract with your SIM card provider. A reason why it works when you insert the SIM card in a phone but not in the GSM modem might be that the phone is connecting to a 3G or 4G network cell and the GSM modem is most likely only suitable for 2G network cells. If a 3G cell is nearby and a 2G cell is further away it is possible that the GSM modem does not receive enough signal strength from the 2G radio cell to connect to the network.
If you can connect to the GSM modem module with a terminal program like PuTTY, you can try the AT command 'AT+COPS=?' to retrieve a list of network names and codes that the GSM modem can detect. At least one GSM network on this list should have a roaming contract with the supplier of the SIM card you use.

Hi. We have a SIM farm here in the UK using Wavecom Modems Multiband stacked together. We have SIMs roaming from other countries. One SIM, roams perfectly on the phone but not in the SIM modem pool connected to Diafaan. Error message is "Network error, the modem is currently searching a new operator to register to"
Have you come across this before? Is there a setting we are getting wrong? Why would it work on the phone and not in the modem?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Robert.
