Yes, the TP-LINK MA-180 is compatible with Diafaan SMS Server. We have used this GSM modem dongle in our test environment and found no major problems with it.
It is a good idea to set the "RebootBeforeInitialization" option in the advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway to "True" for this modem. We found that the modem sometimes stopped responding to Diafaan SMS Server and this setting prevents that problem.

Dear Mr. Henk,
Please tell me can I use TP-Link 3.75G HSUPA USB Adapter MA180.
Regards,
Altaf
Sending SMS messages with a different source address or sender name is not possible with a GSM modem or GSM phone. The GSM operator always uses the number of the SIM card as the source address.
If you want to send messages with your brand name as the source address you have to send them using an Internet SMS service provider. Diafaan SMS Server supports SMS service providers that use the SMPP protocol.

Hello Altaf,
Most modern smartphones and feature phones only offer SMS send capabilities for external software, receiving SMS with software like Diafaan SMS Server is usually not possible because the messages are intercepted by the built-in SMS software on the phone.
I recommend using a dedicated GSM modem when you want to send and receive SMS messages with Diafaan SMS Server. You can find links to reviews for a number of GSM modems on the home page of our website.
Regards, Henk
