Hi,

We have not tested one of these modem pools ourselves. However, there are a number of users of Diafaan SMS Server that use these devices. I have not received any reports from users that their modem pool did not work. There was a problem with a modem pool that did not support flow control on the (internal) serial port, but this was easily solved with an update of Diafaan SMS Server.

Regards, Henk

Hi,

We are thinking about purchasing a modem pool to work with your system.

Can you please confirm if you have done some testing on similar devices.

Best regards,

Hi,

We are thinking about purchasing a modem pool like this one to use with your system.

Can you please confirm if similar devices have been tested working with your system.

It could be both, usually this is an indication that the modem generates a lot of error message when Diafaan SMS Server tries to send messages. The errors will slow down sending messages considerably, especially when the modem is reset after each error. In our experience the Sierra Wireless (Wavecom) Fastrack or the Cinterion (Siemens) modems turn out to be the most reliable, USB modems often are more finicky.

There are some things you can do to limit the number of send errors on your modem, one is to make sure that the network signal is sufficient. Sending and receiving SMS messages at the same time can also cause errors on some modems, disabling delivery confirmation limits the amount of messages that the modem receives.

Both USB modems should be able to receive SMS messages, I would like to have a look at the communication log for the 3G modem that does not receive message to see if anything is wrong. (See http://www.diafaan.com/how-to/log-modem-problems/ for instructions, please send the log to dms at diafaan dot com).

Diafaan SMS Server does not have any provisions to prevent sending messages at certain hours. The only way to accomplish this is to use the Windows task scheduler to stop the Diafaan SMS Server service at a certain time and start it again later.

Hi,

I'm testing your system at the moment and it's great. However, when I put it to stress test to send about 2000 message using 2 USB 3G modem, it took forever. At the beginning, it sent 1 sms every 3 seconds but then it got slower and slower. At the end, it took nearly 10 hours to finish sending them all. Is that something to do with the modem or the carriers?

Another thing is receiving message. Looks like only one modem can receive message. My project actually required all modems to be able to receive at the same time. Is there any setting for that? I have set both GSM gateway to send and receive, by the way.

The last thing is a result of the first problem. if it takes too long to send SMS, it may get sent in the middle of the night which will upset our customer. Is there anyway to set it to avoid sending in certain time of a day?

Thank you and keep up the good work.
