Hello David,
This is usually caused by a timeout error, the HTTP callback does not get a response back from the web server within the specified timeout period. The timeout period can be changed in the settings for the HTTP callbacks.
You can right-click on the error in the event log and select 'Export to file' to see more information about the error. The communication log of the gateway that receives the message also logs the HTTP callbacks, there you can see how many milliseconds each HTTP callback takes, the response from the web server, and any errors that occur during the HTTP request.

I am seeing these in the logs :
HTTP callback 'message_in' failed, message rejected
Is there any way to find the reason for the failure? For example the server isn't responding or I've returned something other than "result=1".
I am using an external webserver for the callback and mostly it works fine under load, but whilst there are not many of these messages I would like to get to the bottom of them.
