If you are using the GSM Modem Gateway to receive the messages you can set the phone number of the SIM card in the 'GSMNumber' property in the advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway. Some SIM cards have the phone number stored on the card and then Diafaan SMS Server automatically reads it from the SIM card, but most wireless operators do not store the phone number on new SIM cards.

You can also use Diafaan SMS Server to write the phone number to the SIM card:
- Open the GSM Modem Gateway settings
- Select 'GSM modem'
- Click on the 'Test' button and wait for the test to finish
- Click on 'Change GSM number'
- Fill in the phone number and click on 'Write'
