The email functionality in Diafaan SMS Server is designed to convert an email message into an SMS message, it is not so much meant to send notifications of incoming email to a mobile phone. For instance, the POP client in the Email Connector in Diafaan SMS Server always removes the messages from the POP box after they are converted to SMS and that means that the emails are not available anymore for another email client

If you have an email server that can generate email notifications (or just raw copies) for incoming mail and send them to Diafaan SMS Server then it is possible to implement a notification system. But that is more a function of the email server than of Diafaan SMS Server.
