This error comes up when you put a mobile number without the country code when sending e.g 0722 instead of +255722

The number of send attempts is a setting that is available in the properties of the connectors.

- Open the properties of the connector (Web Connector, Email Connector, ..)
- Select "Gateways"
- Click on the GSM Modem Gateway
- Set the "Max send attempts" property to 1

As I said, this is not a real solution for the problem with the modem but it will at least disable the repeated sending of the messages.

I am afraid there is not much that can be done to solve this problem, I have tested the Huawei E173 and it worked very well in my tests so it is not a general problem with the Huawei E173.

If it is not possible to use another GSM modem/SIM card, you could set the number of send attempts in the Gateway settings of the connector to 1. This will disable the message send retries after the timeout but it does not prevent all the messages being flagged as failed.

Hi,

It works fine every time. Just send one text message. There does not appear to be any new firmware available for this modem.

Thank you for the log. The problem is that the modem does not give any response after Diafaan SMS Server sends a message. Diafaan SMS Server then concludes that the message failed to send, resets the modem and tries to send the messages again with the same result.

I still suspect that there is an incompatibility between the modem and the mobile network, this might be resolved with a firmware update of the modem but that is not a certainty.

What happens when you send an SMS message with the connection software that was supplied with the modem?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have sent the log file to you.

The modem should be compatible with the network as they did sell it to me...

see what you can find.

thanks

Hi Grant,

This error indicates that the Huawei E173 does not return a confirmation back to Diafaan SMS Server that the message is sent. Except for installing new firmware on the modem there is probably not much that can be done about it but if you send the communication log to dms@diafaan.com I might be able to see what is wrong. (see http://www.diafaan.com/how-to/log-modem-problems/ for instructions to create a communication log)

It is possible that the modem error is caused by an incompatibility between the modem and the mobile network. If this is the case, using a SIM card from a different mobile network might help.

Hi,

I'm getting this error message after each message. If i use the test button to send a test message the message is sent however it comes up in the log file with the following error.

300, Error: Timeout error, no or unexpected response after GSM Modem send command.

Wheni use the email connector it does the same however it sends the message 3 times as i'm guessing it thinks it has not worked.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Grant
