Hello Oscar,

Sorry for the late response, unfortunately I overlooked this forum post.

Diafaan SMS Server only has one message queue but that does not mean that the messages for gateway 2 stay in the queue before all the earlier messages in the queue for gateway 1 are handled.

Diafaan SMS Server works the other way around. Each gateway decides how busy it is and when it has room to send new messages it will request a batch of messages from the message queue and send them. If the message queue has 1000 messages for gateway 1 and 1000 later messages for gateway 2 then both gateway 1 and gateway 2 will get the same amount of messages from the message queue, older messages that are only meant to be sent with gateway 1 will then stay in the message queue until gateway 1 has room to send them. Each gateway has a separate 'MaximumBatchSize' parameter that defines how many messages the gateway can load from the message queue. If you handle the routing of the messages correctly, each gateway should stay busy when there are messages available to them.

Diafaan SMS Server is not designed for really high throughput and there will be a maximum throughput depending on the speed of the computer and hard disk, but it is not limited just because of the single processing queue.

Regards, Henk

Hello henk and team.
I have a question about diafaan's queue management.

Consider the following scenario:
- 4 SMPP gateways (telcos)
- 10 tps for each one

With these parameters I have at my disposal 40tps.
As diafaan has only 1 processing queue...
if I receive 1000 SMS for gateway 1 and then 1000 for gateway 2...
Is it necessary to wait for the first 1000 SMS to be processed before starting to process the 1000 from gateway 2, even when gateway 2 is free and available?

Is there a way to implement a queue for each gateway, in order to get around this problem?

It is a major drawback, diafaan is completely subject to the speed of the processing queue...
If I have 30 gateways with 10tps each, diafaan will process at 10tps in its entirety.

regards
Oscar.
