Hello Thea,

CMS error 500 is an error from the modem. It means 'Unknown error' so unfortunately it does not give any information about the cause of the error. It could be a bad network signal, insufficient SMS credits or invalid destination numbers. You can try another modem to see if the modem is the cause of the problem. If the same issue is present on both modems then there could be a problem with the mobile operator.
