In normal compatibility mode Diafaan SMS Server instructs the modem to forward the delivery reports directly to Diafaan SMS Server without storing them on the modem. In enhanced compatibility mode Diafaan SMS Server tells the modem to store the delivery reports in the memory of the modem or SIM card and reads them from the memory afterwards.

It depends on the modem which method works best. Older modems, specifically Wavecom models, usually work best in normal mode but newer modem models usually work better in enhanced mode. Both compatibility modes use the standard GSM modem commands that should work on all modems but in practise the standards are subject to interpretation and are not always followed correctly on all modems.

Diafaan SMS Server initially sets the compatibility mode to normal or enhanced depending on the modem model. If there are delivery reports, or received SMS messages, missing then you can try the other compatibility mode.

thanks a lot sir. your software is awesome. i have done number format settings and it's working perfectly (sorry, i was not concerned about this settings before opening forum topic).
i have another question.
both normal and enhanced compartibility mode can update the delivery status. which one i should use for getting reliable delivery result (best)?
what is the difference between them in case of delivery report?

it will help me to setup my modem more reliable way.

Hello Martin,

To be able to match the message to the delivery report, the number format in the message must be exactly the same as the number format in the delivery report. It is not possible to change the number format of the delivery reports but you can of course change the number format when you send the messages.

If you send all the messages to numbers without the leading '+' then Diafaan SMS Server should be able to match the message IDs in your situation. Most SMS service providers return the numbers in the delivery reports in international number format with a leading '+' so your situation is not typical. If your numbers are submitted in the wrong format then you can use the number template property in the connector- or gateway settings to change the number format before messages are sent.

Regards, Henk

Hello sir,

When i send sms using diafaan software ( trail version and gsm modem ) i can see the sms sent successfully but delivery status not update.
After searching forum i have seen a old post where you said that the message id must be matched. Now the problem is when i send a sms the message_id is 1:+number:ref something like this but when the sms delivered operator send the message_id which is 1:number:ref (you can see the + is not coming) that's why delivery report status is not changing.

i'm using modem for test purposes.

what should i do now? does full version has option to rewrite the message_id?

Thanks in advance
