Diafaan SMS Server can only work with a 3G USB modem if the modem driver installs a virtual COM port on the computer and conforms to the GSM 07.05 AT command standard. Unfortunately, not all modern 3G modem dongles (specifically the Wi-Fi models) use a COM port anymore but if I look at the specifications of the ZTE MF667, it looks like this modem should install a COM port and it should therefore work with Diafaan SMS Server.

There are a couple of possible reasons why Diafaan SMS Server cannot find the modem:
1. The driver did not install a COM port
You can see in the Windows Device Manager if the modem installed a COM port
2. The web interface of the modem is connected to the COM port and therefore Diafaan SMS Server cannot open it
If this is the case, you should close the connection software and/or disable the web interface

If you post the log of the 'Search' button (click on 'View log' after the search is complete), I might be able to tell what the most likely reason is that Diafaan SMS Server cannot find the modem.

Hello

I've just bought the 3G USB modem ZTE MF667 in order to test the your application. After inserting the USB modem, the driver got automatically installed on my Windows xp machine. Afterwards, I was able to view the config of the modem along with the received sms messages via the browser (ip address: 192.168.0.1).

I installed the trial version of your application and it was not able to detect the ZTE USB stick. Com 1 did not work. then, I tried using the TCP/IP option and entering the 192.168.0.1 as the host ip address with no luck either.

Could you please give me an idea on how to get your app to work with the mentioned modem ? The driver installation seems to install the following:

- USB Mass Storage Device
- ZTE USB SCSI CD-ROM USB Device
- ZTE MMC Storage USB Device

Based on the above, I suspect that the modem did not install drivers for the serial COM port. However, the web interface for the modem is showing all received SMS messages and also seem to instantly show received sms messages as soon as they arrive !!

Your help and guidance on this is very much appreciated.
