If this is a one-time error and if there are no other issues, you can ignore it safely. 3G modems sometimes generate error messages when they are busy doing something else. This does not have to mean that there is something wrong.

If this error is persistent and you notice that the modem receives no new messages then there is a good chance that the modem has an internal error. This internal error can only be resolved by rebooting the modem. In the Advanced options of the GSM Modem Gateway are a couple of settings to automatically reboot the modem when an error occurs. In this case you should set the RebootAfterReceiveError option to True (version 2.0.0.0, in older versions the options have different names).

Not all USB modems can handle a reboot without problems, it is best to keep an eye out to see if the modem recovers well after a reboot.

Hi Luis,

The next version of Diafaan SMS Server will ignore this error but for the current version you can try if setting the CompatibilityMode property in the Advanced settings of the GSM Modem Gateway to BasicPDUMode or BasicTextMode helps.

If you have a valid license for Diafaan SMS Server I can send you an update for the GSM Modem Gateway if you send your serial number to dmsATdiafaanDOTcom.

Regards, Henk

I'm getting this error when using a Motorola A1200 Modem; The GSM Modem returned ERROR after the AT+COPS=3,0\r command. Please help me to fix this issue.

This error means that the Nokia X6-00 does not support the reception of SMS messages with external software. You can disable the error messages if you double click on the GSM Modem Gateway and select Send only. After that you can still send SMS messages but Diafaan SMS Server will not try to get the received SMS messages.

Most modern (smart)phones do not support receiving SMS messages anymore. If you need this, your only option is to get a GSM or 3G modem or an older model GSM phone.

Hi there,

I've just dowloaded and installed (trial version) Diafaan server and I'm trying to use my Nokia X6-00 phone as a modem, but with no success due to following error message:

"The GSM Modem returned ERROR after the AT +GMGL=4\r command."

Please note that I get the same message using either USB cable and bluethooth.

Please help
