To send and receive SMS messages with an SMS service provider you'll first have to sign up to an SMS service provider that supports the SMPP standard. You can also use one of the following HTTP API SMS services that is supported in the basic- and full editions of Diafaan SMS Server version 3.3.0.0 or higher:

Some of theses services have to approve the specific alphanumeric sender IDs you want to use and others accept all alphanumeric sender IDs.

If you intend to send a large amount of SMS messages then an SMS service provider with SMPP is a good option, if you plan to send a low to medium amount of messages then using a service with an HTTP API is often better.

Thanks Henk for your Quick reply.

Actually, we must need Sender ID to send messages. Is that possible to become Internet based SMS Provider ? How will this work with Diafaan ?

Sorry we are very new and looking for some solution around it.

Thanks
Deepak

Hello Deepak,

When an SMS message is sent with a GSM modem it does not include a sender ID. The sender ID is only added to the SMS message when it is accepted by the mobile operator that issued the SIM card. There is no workaround for this, not with hardware and not with software.

The only practical way to send messages with an alphanumeric sender ID is by using an internet based SMS service provider that supports this option. The basic- and full editions of Diafaan SMS Server can use SMS service providers that support the SMPP standard or the HTTP API SMS services of BulkSMS, ClickSend, Clickatell, Esendex, MessageBird, Nexmo and Twilio.

In theory you can ask the issuer of your SIM card to associate your SIM card with an alphanumeric sender ID instead of a phone number but most, or all, of the SIM card providers probably won't offer this option.

Regards, Henk

Hi Diafaan

We are using full license. We are in need of sending the alphanumeric SENDER ID using GSM MOdem. I know technically its not possible.

But Is there any workaround for this ? Please advise in case we required any hardware change.
