Hello Andy,

As far as I know, the IMEI on the PORTech gateways cannot be changed, at least not by using any published API.

It is of course possible that the IMEI can be changed with an update of the firmware or with an unpublished AT command to the device. The manufacturer of the PORTech modems should be able to tell you if this is possible.

Regards, Henk

Hello,

The AT&FE0 command is a combination of the "factory settings" command (AT&F) and the "echo off" command (ATE0). The AT&FE0 command is supported by every modem I have tested so far, including several SIMCOM modules.

Diafaan SMS Server should also work with GSM modems that return ERROR after the AT&FE0 command, only the "Test" function in the setup wizard will fail. You can continue the setup procedure for the GSM Modem Gateway after the "Test" returns an error. Just be sure to enter the right user name and password for the PORTech MV-378.

I have not tested the PORTech MV-378 and I am interested in your experience with this GSM modem Gateway, is it possible to use all the GSM modem modules for SMS or does it support only an IP connection to one of the modem modules?

Regards, Henk

Hello,

I have problems getting Portech MV-378 (Simcom) to work with Diafaan Server 2.1.1.0 because of the command "AT&FE0".

This gateway accepts almost common AT commands of Diafaan Server, only this "AT&FE0" command returns an ERROR.

I manually accessing the gateway telnet and issue this "AT&FE0" command but the response is always ERROR.

Is "AT&FE0" is a reset command? I'd google around and found that there are alternatives for RESET COMMAND that works with Portech MV-378 gateway.

"AT&FS0=0E0" or "AT&FS0=0E0V1Q0".

Can you provide a PATCH to change "AT&FS0=0E0" instead of "AT&FE0" so I can test the gateway?

Thanks.

Update: Support for the PORTech MV-370 and other IP modems that require a clear-text log on procedure was added to Diafaan SMS Server 2.1.1.0.

I published a review of the PORTech MV-370 on the Diafaan website.

Diafaan SMS Server 1.7.1.0 and higher can use a GSM modem over a TCP/IP connection without using any additional COM port drivers. The connection can be raw TCP/IP or Telnet and the command set of the modem has to be compatible with the GSM standard.

To select a GSM modem over TCP/IP connection, choose TCP/IP as the COM port and enter the IP address and port number where the modem is connected. The rest of the set up is the same as for other 3G/GSM modems.

Hi Gunther,

The mv-370 probably won't work with Diafaan SMS Server. If I understand the documentation correctly, the mv-370 requires a login sequence that is incompatible with the GSM SMS standard and is not implemented by Diafaan SMS Server.
