BulkSMS, like most SMS service providers, only supports HTTP callbacks to deliver incoming messages with their HTTP API. Some services, like Esendex, support polling for new messages and that is easier to set up but more resource intensive for the SMS service provider. A lot of SMS service providers also offer SMPP as an option, but often with a minimum purchase of SMS credits per month.

I have sent you a 30-day extension of the trial license by email.

Thanks Henk. I suspected as much. I was hoping for something more simple as I don't really want to open up ports on my router...but I guess I have no choice. Any chance on getting an extension on the trial version? BulkSMS took some time in getting my inbound SMS number authorized and setup. I have 8 days left.

Hello Bert,

Sending SMS messages with the BulkSMS SMS service is pretty straightforward with the HTTP Gateway in Diafaan SMS Server but if you want to receive SMS messages as well, you have to take some additional steps. BulkSMS uses HTTP callbacks to send the received (MO) SMS messages to Diafaan SMS Server and you have to make sure that BulkSMS is able to send the HTTP request to Diafaan SMS Server.

The first step is to enable the 'Start HTTP server for BulkSMS callbacks' option in the settings of the HTTP Gateway. You can change the port number if there already is an HTTP server active on port 80 of your computer. This step starts an HTTP server on the designated port that listens for incoming SMS messages and status updates from BulkSMS.

Then you have to make sure that the HTTP server in Diafaan SMS Server is reachable from the internet. You might have to add an exception to your firewall and if the computer/server is on a LAN network you have to create a port forwarding rule in your LAN router.

The last step is to add the public IP- and port number of your computer to BulkSMS. In the BulkSMS account settings, open 'My profile', click on the 'Set' link next to 'MO relay URL' and set the URL for your computer. For example, if your computer is available on the internet on port '8080' of IP number '123.123.123.123' the URL is: 'http://123.123.123.123:8080'.

I've set up my gateway using Bulk SMS and it works great for sending messages but I'm not receiving. I see the received messages when I log into my Bulk SMS account but they don't seem to be reaching my Diafaan server. I'm using a trial version of Diafaan to test for my company and my trial expires in a few days. I really need to get this to work so please help!
